Some National Parks to visit this year.

With the Holidays in the past, you might be thinking of some vacation time that you can use. What better way to use the time is to visit some of the national parks in the United States. This list are just are some of the national parks and national monuments which may be close to you.

 

The Statue of Liberty Monument and Ellis Island, in New York, New Jersey Harbor. The Statue of Liberty is the symbol of hope, freedom and liberty. Ellis island contains a museum of the people who left their homeland for what they believed to a better place. Over 12 million people were sent through those doors. Historical pictures, clothes and artifacts are on display.

 

The World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument in Hawaii is there to remember the fallen. On December 7, 1941, there was an attack on Pearl Harbor. The USS Arizona was one of the ships that had sunk that day. The memorial was built above the sunken battleship.

 

Independence Hall in Philadelphia is where the Second Continental Congress met in 1775. See the place where the Declaration of Independence was signed. You can see the copy of the Declaration of Independence and the Liberty Bell.

 

Fort Sumter, National Monument, South Carolina. You can visit the place where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. You can even see demonstrations about soldiers loading 19th century guns also.

 

Crater Lake in Oregon is created from a volcanic eruption and a mountain that collapsed. It is one of the bluest lakes on the planet and the deepest lake in the United States. You can fish for rainbow trout in the lake.


So here are just a few National Parks and Monuments to visit. This year the National Parks is celebrating its one hundredth birthday.
