Hotel was very easy access from the interstate and offered a free shuttle to the cruise port as well as a very discounted shuttle back from port. Everything was very organized in how the shuttle systems worked, which was very surprising. The ladies at the front desk were always very pleasant and quick to say a Hello or Good Morning when they saw us. We did not try the pool area or restaurants, but they appeared top-notch! Some reviews say the hotel stinks. Actually, no, it doesn't. The nearby area does as if there is a paper plant nearby. The hotel can't do much about the smell in the area. Our room was in good repair except for the dresser where the drawers would not stay in. A suitcase in front of them was a quick fix. The bed was a little on the hard side for my tastes, but it's expected when at hotels. The hotel does show some age, but it's clear management has done the best they can with what they have. There are lots of restaurants within a very short drive, and we felt quite safe in the area even if there were constantly fire trucks and police vehicles breezing by on Rivers Ave. It's nice to know they are very responsive. We also felt comfortable leaving our vehicle at the hotel for the duration of the cruise. I would happily stay here again if visiting the Charleston area.
