If needing to spend a night before flying out of DTW, Howard Johnson is one of the better options. The shuttle is always available and the cost is reasonable esp for the days the car stays parked there. The hotel hallways are a bit shabby but the rooms are comfortable; the a/c and heater work great w/o blasting you out of the room. The lobby is pleasant & breakfast is good: hot or cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels, muffins, waffles....all self serve but very adequate. Personnel helpful and friendly. We've stayed there twice now & will do again when needed.
